January
"Earth Renewal"
(Dec 22nd - Jan 19th)
The first moon of the year carries a quiet power.
Beginning at the Winter Solstice, this time is known as the Earth Renewal Moon—when the Sun slowly turns back toward the North and light begins its gentle return.

This moon is held by the wisdom of the North, where cold clarifies, stillness teaches, and renewal quietly begins.

-
The Snow Goose appears during this time, reminding us of endurance and adaptability—how to move with the seasons rather than against them.
-
Quartz Crystal brings clarity through stillness.
-
Turtle medicine teaches patience, protection, and the wisdom of moving slowly with purpose.
January is a time to slow down, listen closely, and let things settle before moving forward.
In everyday life, this medicine may show up as:
-
Needing more solitude or warmth
-
Reflecting before committing
-
Taking care of yourself before committing to anything new
This is not a pause before life starts. This is life, gathering itself.
The practices shared here are offered as simple suggestions for the New Year, inspired by the Earth Renewal Moon. You’re invited to choose one, a few, or return to them over time—there’s no need to do everything at once. Let your energy guide you. Even a single intentional moment is enough to support renewal during this season.

Journal
1. Clean & Smoke the Space
After decluttering and cleaning your space, open your windows if you can. Light your herb and let the smoke rise. Move CLOCKWISE through your space, starting at the front door. Pay attention to corners, doorways, and where energy feels heavy. Repeat for every room of your home. Don't forget under the beds.
As you walk, say quietly:
"I release what no longer belongs in this cycle."
2. Cinnamon Threshold Blessing
To do on the first day of every month (or when you need a fresh start)
Place a pinch of cinnamon in your palm.
Stand at your front door and gently blow or sprinkle it inward while setting an intention for prosperity/abundance/protection - visualize it filling your home with good energy, and leave it for 24 hours before sweeping.
This simple ritual welcomes positive vibes and sets a prosperous tone for the month ahead.

Energy + Sound Practice for the Month
Earth Renewal
Sit or stand comfortably, feet connected to the ground.
Take three slow breaths and feel your body being supported by the earth beneath you.
Place your right hand on your lower belly and the right one on your heart center.
Step 1: Restore + Receive - (Inhale)
-
Inhale slowly through your nose.
-
As you breathe in, imagine calm, steady energy rising from the earth and filling your body—bringing support, warmth, and ease.
-
Let this energy reach the places that feel tired or overwhelmed.
-
Silently say:“I allow support in.”
Step 2: Ground + Release with Sound (Exhale)
-
Exhale slowly through your mouth while softly toning LAM—low, steady, and unforced, like a gentle drumbeat.
-
As you sound, imagine any tension, worry, or excess energy draining down through your body and into the earth.
-
Feel your weight settle. Let your body soften.
-
Silently say: “I don’t have to hold everything."
-
Repeat
-
Continue this cycle—inhale to receive, exhale with sound to release—for 3–5 rounds, moving at your own pace.
-
When finished, pause for a moment of stillness before returning to your day.
Journal Invitation — Listening Beneath the Surface
Begin by writing about what you’re ready to release as this new cycle begins. Let your words move slowly and honestly, without trying to fix or resolve anything.
You might also choose to create a simple vision board (on paper or digitally) focused on how you want to feel in the months ahead. Keep it simple and uncluttered.
Reflect on these questions:
-
Where in my life am I being asked to conserve energy?
-
What wants to move forward slowly, with care?
-
What feels quietly steady or enduring beneath the surface?
-
What becomes clearer when I allow myself to pause?
When you’re ready, close your journal by writing:
“I trust the wisdom of moving slowly.”
